Ecole Privée Fieldgen

SCHOOL FUTURES at Fieldgen

The participation of the Fieldgen in the project SCHOOL FUTURES allows us to reflect more consciously on our own work as a school and to anchor the idea of sustainability in teaching and in our socio-political commitment to people and the environment: we want to contribute to a more just, open and humane society. Our starting point is our charter, which is based on the Christian and humanistic values of our school founders.

Our beliefs

On the basis of the Christian and humanistic values, we regard every human being as positive and appreciate the peculiarities of each individual. Self-confidence as well as trust in others, development of personality, empathy, enthusiasm and well-being are just as important to us as school achievements.

How do we want to proceed?

With the help of the scenarios, we want to think about our future. In these considerations, we want to include not only all participants in everyday school life, but also our region and the needs of society. With new projects we want to breathe life into our Charter, but the appreciation and continuation of current and past efforts should also not be forgotten.

What is sustainability for us?

Sustainability is a quality that grows out of a social learning process that serves to change our relationships with our world, each other, and ourselves so that we, and later generations, can live a better life. Learning refers to developing competences for future-oriented, networked thinking and cooperation with completely different worldviews. This allows us to better influence our future and recognize and accept new responsibilities. It teaches individuals (for example, students, teachers, and parents), it learns the whole school (for example, how to organize itself better), and it learns the (educational) system.

What are we already doing?

Our commitment to sustainability is at home in many areas. We support nonprofit organizations through social projects and fundraising. By selling Fairtrade products, we bring the discussion of global flows of goods and working conditions into our classrooms, and through a canteen that produces as little surplus as possible, we try to set an example for conscious nutrition. By eliminating PET beverage dispensers on the school grounds and distributing Fieldgen reusable cups to all participants in everyday school life, we have for a short time avoided large amounts of waste. In this, as well as in many other projects, students, teachers and the staff of the school are already working hand in hand. This is to be placed in the future much value.
